Odisha hosted the 2018 Hockey World Cup and will also host the 2023 Hockey World Cup. During 2018, around 90% of the advertising came in from the state, plus the state government of Odisha paid money to host the World Cup. This is a sweet spot for the FIH (International Hockey Federation) where it doesn't have to worry about anything. Odisha government is spending taxpayer's money on high-value back-to-back Hockey World Cups, which could have gone into grass-root Hockey.
