The puppet home department of Balochistan has imposed section 144 in Gwadar district for a period of one month. The department imposed 144 in Gwadar district using the powers under sub-section (6) of section 144 Cr.P.C 1898.
The reason behind the imposition is due to intense pressure from China, to avoid attacks by Baloch freedom fighters.
In the notification that was circulated, ‘display, use, gatherings, processions and rallies of weapons’ have been banned in Gwadar district. According to the notification, assembly of five or more people has also been banned across the district.
Section 144 has been imposed for a period of one month beginning from February 2, 2023. It should be noted that even during the sit-in of Awami Tehreek Haq Du Tehreek in Gwadar last year, Section 144 was imposed in Gwadar for one month and Hussain Wadela, the leader of Haq Du Tehreek, and his associates were arrested.
