In a disturbing incident from Kot Ghulam Mohammad, a minor girl named Neena, hailing from the Gujarati community, has reportedly gone missing from her home in the early hours of April 22, 2024. 13-year-old was abducted by a radical Islamist named Mehdi Hassan, also known as Mido Khaskheli. He also converted Neena before marrying off to her.

According to Neena’s family, Mehdi Hassan implicated her in disappearance and subsequent conversion to Islam. Mehdi orchestrated Neena’s conversion at the Pir Sarhandi shrine before marrying her off.

The situation is further complicated by Mehdi’s marital status; he is reported to be twice the age of the minor girl and already married with three children.

Adding to the controversy, reports suggest that the police have been accused of providing support to Mehdi, facilitating his actions. The family claims that law enforcement officials aided Mehdi in reaching the shrine for Neena’s religious conversion and subsequent marriage.

Neena being abducted, converted and married against her will raises serious concerns about the protection of minors and religious freedom in the region. The circumstances surrounding Neena’s disappearance and subsequent events underscore the need for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The community and Neena’s family demand justice and accountability from the authorities, urging them to ensure the safe return of the minor girl and to hold those responsible for her disappearance and alleged forced conversion accountable.
