According to the sources, this barren land of Grunjar as well as the grazing land is owned by the people of Grunjar, the elders of Grunjar had paid taxes to acquire this land. After the payment of the tax, the land from the Lub river to the top of the mountain is owned by the local people, with no land owned by any government functionary or institution.The local people have said that they will not tolerate any interference and that Granger’s land grab is an attack on Punyal and Dastur Punyal.
The leader of Gilgit-Baltistan United Movement said that the residents of Gilgapur/Sherqala to Birgal and Haim will defend the lands of Grunjar and Punyal come what may.Over the past few months,the resource rich region of Gilgit-Baltistan has seen an increase in land occupation of the local people by the Pakistani Army or Pakistani Rangers.
